Welcome in Altötting "Heart of Bavaria"

italianoback to german site
This is what they call Altötting, and it deserves this name, due to its more than a thousand year old history, but also due to its significance as a centre of profound belief and devoutness.

Altötting is located in the Upper-Bavarian Alpine region, and lies between Munich, Passau and Salzburg, not very far from the Chiemsee. For more than 1250 years this town has been the spiritual centre of Bavaria and for more than 500 years the most significant place of pilgrimage in Germany in veneration of the Virgin Mary.

More than 1 million pilgrims and visitors per year seek the "Black Madonna" which is kept inside the Chapel of Grace, the small sacred building in the middle of the chapel square.
