Orchestral Masses

In the well over 500-year old history of Marian pilgrimages, liturgical music has been of major importance and has presented us with a treasure of compositions. Outstanding works, such as various organ pieces and the orchestral Missa Solemnis Mass in D major, were written by the Altötting organist Max Keller (1770 - 1855). Under the direction of the monastery’s conductor, the chapel choir cum orchestra and the monastery’s organist have been in charge of the musical arrangements of numerous church services in Altötting for generations.
